Coffee tables might seem like a small detail, but they’re actually one of the hardest-working pieces in your living room. So I like to advise my Clients to invest well in these pieces. When we refurbish a room, we design and decorate for the long haul and not seasonally. If that’s you, in this blog we talk about some really wonderful designs, super quality, real showstopper pieces we’ve noticed that serve almost every style and why we love them for your homes. We’re also talking trends we are spotting and things to consider when picking out the best for your home for 2026.

Designers love coffee tables. They really to pull the whole space together, anchor a scheme and give you somewhere practical to put your coffee (or your feet, no judgement), and they also can say a lot about your personal style. With 2026 just around the corner, here are the coffee table trends we’re most excited about.

Trending Styles for 2026

Natural Materials
Sustainability isn’t a trend anymore; it’s just part of how we live. And honestly? I’m here for it. Coffee tables in wood, stone, or metal not only look gorgeous but bring so much warmth and texture into a room. I’m loving marble or quartz tops teamed with bronze bases right now – they work beautifully with Japandi styles, but also slot in effortlessly with industrial or mid-century looks. Sophie Paterson’s collab with Loom Furniture is a dream piece, and Anthropologie have a really versatile organic design I keep coming back to.

Multi-Functional Designs
We all want our homes to work harder for us, don’t we? Coffee tables with hidden storage, lift-up tops you can work from, or ones that extend for dining are brilliant if you’re short on space. I’m a fan of Rowen Homes’ Emska design that triples up as seating, a table, and even a games table. Maze Furniture also do a great one – it’s technically outdoor furniture, but I say why not bring it inside?

Sculptural Shapes
This is where it gets fun. Coffee tables are becoming real statement pieces. Think bold curves, unusual edges, asymmetric lines, and beautiful mixes of materials. Put one of these next to a simple sofa and suddenly the whole room feels elevated. I love Oka’s practical, small space yet sculptural and contemporary style, and Soho’s Gia table is a perfect nod to mid-century with just the right amount of flair.

Minimalist & Elegant
If you like to keep things timeless, you’ll be glad to know clean, simple lines are still going strong. Neutral colours, wood, metal, and classic shapes like circles or squares always look fresh. The Sellano minimalist design by Nth Degree is fab if you want sleek and featured, while the Cloud table by Sweetpea & Willow is softer and more traditional but still timeless.

How to Choose the Right Coffee Table

  • Size & scale: Bigger is always better, to help scale your bigger furniture pieces like your sofa’s and sideboards or media units – but only if you can still move around it easily. If you can’t stretch your legs or walk past without bumping into it, it’s of course, time to look at something a little smaller.
  • Materials: Match your room for a calm, cohesive look, or go bold with a contrast—maybe a ridged wood, a marbled finish, or textured metals.
  • Function: Always start with what you need—extra storage, more surface space, or simply a beautiful centrepiece—and then layer in the style.

At Haysey Designs, I don’t just follow trends—I’ll help you find (or design) the coffee table that actually fits your life and your home.
